Sarah Joseph

Sarah Joseph is an award-winning filmmaker based in Washington, DC. After earning her BSc in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from UC Davis and a PhD in Animal Behavior from the University of Queensland, Sarah began a career at National Geographic in 2008. Since then, she has traveled the world sharing hopeful stories about people and nature that inspire change. As the Director of Impact & Research for National Geographic Society’s Impact Story Lab, Sarah helps lead the team’s impact strategy, social science research, and project evaluation, as well as advancing the field through training and workshops. She is passionate about helping to create a more inclusive and equitable industry and mentors through the Fulbright-NGS Fellowship program, the Video Consortium, Jackson Wild, and others.
