Maggie Burnette Stogner

Roles: Director

Maggie Burnette Stogner is Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking (www.environmentalfilm.org), professor of Film and Media Arts at American University in Washington, D.C., and has over 30 years of filmmaking experience. She was senior producer of National Geographic’s award-winning series EXPLORER. In 2005, she launched the independent media company Blue Bear Films, creating films and immersive media for world-touring cultural exhibitions for NatGeo, Smithsonian, LucasFilms, and others. Her recent documentaries include the award-winning Unbreathable – the Fight For Healthy Air (2020), In the Executioner’s Shadow (2018), Gold Mountain (2016). Her impact media strategic research on how to create greater positive change with compelling storytelling is available at: www.cefimpactmedia.org. Maggie is an executive member of Women in Film & Video, voting member of the Nat’l Academy of TV Arts & Sciences, and a judge for the Emmys, Jackson Wild, and others.
