Maggie Burnette Stogner

Maggie Burnette Stogner is Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking and a professor of Film and Media Arts at American University in Washington, DC. She has over 30 years of filmmaking experience, from a decade at National Geographic TV & Film to her independent production company Blue Bear Films. Her award-winning work spans broadcast, world-touring cultural exhibitions, and independent environmental documentaries such as “Upstream, Downriver – Uniting for Water Justice” (2025) and “Unbreathable “(2020). Her expertise includes high-impact films and outreach campaigns that engage and activate, with case studies available at http://www.cefimpactmedia.org. Maggie is an executive member of Women in Film & Video, voting member of the National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences, and a judge for the Emmys, Jackson Wild, and other Awards.
