Eef de Graaf grew up in different places in Holland and studied art in Groningen at Minerva Art School. She graduated in as a painter. Because of her interest in theatre, other art disciplines and science, she continued studying at the University of Groningen. She started to work with video and film. Her rising fascination for video convinced her that filmmaking could give her the challenges she was looking for. She moved to Rotterdam and started to work as a freelance reporter for a radio station and also continued working as an artist and set up several exhibitions. She moved and worked for a period to Gothenburg in Sweden where she continued filmmaking. she moved back to Rotterdam and went to study film in Den Haag with experimental filmmaker Frans Zwartjes. After this period she lived in Barcelona and Rome for a while. She worked with artistic and experimental films such as: Circulos Cuadrados, Pulse of the City, The Grin, Garcia Lorca esta Vivo? And started with documentary in 2002 with the documentary’s: Barcelona 2002 Cinemadamare, Zadkine and the Growing city. Her films where selected for many international film festivals. Such as International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Dutch Film festival in Utrecht and she showed her films amongst other country’s in France, Italy, Russia and Spain. This year her photography about sustainable islands was also selected for an exhibition with the world Press Photography selection in Zierikzee and her film was shown at IDFA in Amsterdam and Film by the Sea in Vlissingen and the island Schiermonnickoog. She is currently working at an educational project around Sustainable islands and artworks that are connected to the filmwork and sustainability.
