Francesc Badia i Dalmases is an international affairs expert, journalist, political analyst and founder and director of democraciaAbierta, a global platform for Latin American voices and a section of openDemocracy, London. He is a frequent international affairs analyst and media commentator, speaker at international debates and think tank seminars worldwide, and a contributor to The Guardian and many other international media. He worked as a senior advisor for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and was executive director of the EuroMed Regions Conference at the International Relations Office of the Government of Catalonia (2005). Apart from his native Spanish and Catalan, he is fluent English, French and Italian, and speaks some Portuguese. Francesc was born in Mexico and has spent most of his professional life working from Barcelona, where he currently lives with his wife and two children.
