The Anacostia Neighborhood Library is one of 26 branches of the District of Columbia Public Library system. It was established at a temporary site in 1942, with a permanent location constructed in 1956.
In April of 2010, a brand new state-of-the-art facility opened to the public. This two-story 22,000 square foot space earned a LEED Gold Certification for environmentally sustainable design from the U.S. Green Building Council. Today it is a center of activity for its community and features such amenities as free wifi access, 40 public access computers, public art by community members, and much more.
