Born in Belgium in 1975, Pieter Van Eecke has studied Philosophy (Ghent State University) and Sculpture (Sint-Lucas Brussels). He worked and lived in South America for several years and became a filmmaker.

His first documentary GOUDOUGOUDOU (2011, 55 min, co-directed with Fabrizio Scapin) is about the earthquake in Haiti and was featured in several film festivals worldwide. SAMUEL IN THE CLOUDS is his first feature-length documentary.
