Tanya Martinez is a conservation biologist from Puerto Rico. She is currently the project leader for the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resource’s Puerto Rican Parrot Recovery Project. She is part of a team of dedicated scientists working to save the critically endangered Puerto Rican Parrot through a captive breeding and release program. Tanya believes in the importance of “science-telling” and considers it her mission to share the story of the parrots with the world. She uses photography and video to give people a glimpse into the secret lives of these iconic birds.
