Julia Steele Allen is a longtime activist, community organizer, and award-winning playwright/ performer. She co-produced and was the Impact Producer for the documentary film “Decade of Fire,” about the burning of the Bronx in the 1970’s, which premiered in 2018, and had over 100 grassroots screenings across the mainland and Puerto Rico, and won the 2020 PBS Independent Lens Audience Award. From 2014-2017 she co-wrote, produced and performed “Mariposa & the Saint: From Solitary Confinement, A Play Through Letters” which she performed over seventy times across ten states, using it as an organizing tool in the growing movement to end solitary confinement in U.S. prisons and jails. She works at the intersection of art and organizing and joined the Razing Liberty Square film team in 2020 as its Impact Producer. www.juliasteeleallen.com
