Tom represents the whitewater paddling community in connecting the interests of human-powered recreational river users with ecological and science-based data to protect and restore rivers. He has served in a leadership capacity in successful campaigns to designate Wild and Scenic Rivers and is actively engaged in management issues that ensure opportunities for the public to enjoy wild rivers while protecting the resource. Tom has his degree in aquatic ecology from the University of Wisconsin and has served as research coordinator and instructor for the river ecology group at the University of Washington.
