Risteard Ó Domhnaill

Roles: Director, Producer

Risteard Ó Domhnaill is cameraman/director from the West of Ireland. He became a documentary maker when Shell Oil attempted to drive a pipeline through a small coastal community close to his uncle’s farm. After filming the protests of it for television news, he became frustrated with the coverage, and proceeded to film his first documentary on the subject called The Pipe. His latest documentary Atlantic follows on from The Pipe. Whereas The Pipe looked at the impact of oil exploration on a coastal community, Atlantic seeks to delve into the politics of fishing and oil exploration in the North Atlantic, and its impact on the environment and communities on its shores. Atlantic has been crowd funded up to this point, breaking the Irish record for a crowd-funded project.
