Christine Beling, Project Engineer in the Office of Environmental Stewardship, joined the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA New England) in December 1994. Chris has worked on food waste issues since the mid-1990’s with colleagues from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the Massachusetts Food Association and area grocery stores, starting with diverting food to compost.  Now, with the issue of wasted food in the mainstream, EPA and the US Department of Agriculture have committed to reducing food waste and food loss by 50% nationwide by the year 2030. Chris is working with businesses and institutions throughout New England to promote recovery efforts and provide technical assistance in support of this goal.  She holds a B.S in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.
