Justin Catanoso

Justin Catanoso has been a regular correspondent for Mongabay since 2015 and has written stories from South America, Africa, Europe and the US, including Alaska. He’s covered seven United Nations climate summits, including Paris, and the most recent UN Biodiversity summit in Colombia. Ecosystems such as tropical forests, savannas and grasslands, and oceans have been featured in his coverage. Since 2018, he has specialized in reporting on issues and controversies surrounding forest biomass, or wood pellets, for industrial-scale energy production. Justin is also a professor of journalism at Wake Forest University and teaches courses on reporting, editing and news literacy. He lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.
