Three women set sail on a 350 mile expedition through Alaska’s vast Tongass National Forest to explore how clearcut logging in this coastal rainforest could affect wildlife, local communities, and our planet’s climate.

The team behind UNDERSTORY decided to release the film after the US Forest Service opened a 60-day public comment period (deadline: January 24, 2022) for people to weigh in on restoring protections for 9-million acres of the Tongass. Learn more here.

“In watching the film, folks will have a better understanding of the issue at hand, and will be able to participate in the comment period in a more knowledgeable and helpful way.” – Colin Arisman, Director, UNDERSTORY
