For legendary experimental musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson, the life and death of her beloved rat terrier, Lolabelle serves as a portal onto a whole life’s worth of loss and memory: from the deaths of her partner Lou Reed and the artist Gordon Matta-Clark to childhood traumas and 9/11. She navigates painful terrain with warmth and irrepressible imagination, combining animation, home movies, and idiosyncratic cinematography with her own voice to make Heart of a Dog a singular experience for longtime Anderson fans or newcomers to her world.
