While Hawaii is justifiably known as a world class vacation destination because of its wonderful climate, beautiful beaches, breathtaking views and a lush tropical environment, it is now known as the bird extinction capital of the world. Documenting the tragic extinction of 71 bird species of the 113 known to be endemic to the state of Hawaii, this film explores this overwhelming loss, describes ongoing mitigation measures and offers solutions to prevent further tragedy. Narrated by Richard Chamberlain. Written and directed by George E. Wallace, Gavin Shire and Robert Johns. Produced by the American Bird Conservancy.
