Somewhere between visual anthropology and art-house cinema, this film, shot beautifully in black and white, captures a microcosm of Mexican society. Two photographers, Gerardo Barroso Alcalá and Lisa Tillinger have recently moved to busy Calle López in historic downtown Mexico City. A bustling cauldron of everyday life, Calle López is so vibrant that they become inspired to follow the street’s residents with their cameras. They document the daily comings and goings of a parade of street vendors, beggars and other urban dwellers. In Spanish with English subtitles. Directed by Gerardo Barroso Alcalá and Lisa Tillinger.
