Spring 2015

Chelsea Parker (Princeton University): As an organizational intern, Chelsea contributed to each department within DCEFF. For Communications, she helped to produce our Festival’s printed program, using her graphic design skills to create fliers and slides, as well as update our website. For Development, Chelsea assisted in planning our annual fundraising event at the Singapore Embassy, our Opening Night Party and our Closing Night Reception.  For Programming, she served as Captain for many of our screenings, introducing the films and managing filmmakers.

David Richards (Monterey Institute of International Studies): David served as a Communications and Marketing Intern during the Festival season, our busiest time for promotion. He played a major role in launching our newly designed website by creating written and visual content, using the WordPress content management system. David also blogged for DCEFF, developing the new “What You Can Do” strand that described how audience members can make an impact after watching films in our festival.

Sam Sheline (American University): Sam used his knowledge and experience as an MFA candidate to review and recommend films for the 2015 and 2016 Festival slates. A filmmaker in his own right, Sam’s films Add One Back and When Mickey Came to Town were Official Festival Selections that screened at DCEFF 2015 and DCEFF 2016, respectively. Following Sam’s internship, he was hired as a programming consultant for the Festival.

Shawn Leister-Frazier (George Mason University): Shawn served as a Marketing and Communications Intern specializing in Media Production. He shot both still photography and video of our Festival screenings and events, created a standard open for all DCEFF videos, and produced content for our website re-launch in 2015. Shawn says, “I greatly enjoyed my experience interning with the passionate and dedicated Festival staff. They listened to my input, gave me fun and creative projects to work on, and I was even given the opportunity to meet with award-winning directors who were making films for a great cause.”

Sean Mercado (George Mason University): Sean was chosen as a Marketing and Communications Intern specializing in Media Production. For DCEFF 2015 he shot still photography, produced an animated DCEFF logo and created content for our site.

Susan Warner (University of Maryland): As a Development Intern, Susan played a major role in coordinating DCEFF 2015 special events, including our annual fundraiser at the Singapore Embassy, the Opening Night Party, and the Closing Night Reception.
