Dino Grandoni is a freelance science reporter who covers wildlife, biodiversity, ecology, genetics, evolution and paleontology. He was a staff reporter covering wildlife and other environmental issues at the Washington Post for nine years before being laid off in February. He was part of a reporting team that was a finalist for the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting for coverage of Hurricane Helene. Before The Post, he worked for BuzzFeed News and the Huffington Post and was a reporting fellow at the New York Times and the Atlantic. He is a native of Buffalo.
