Nancy Stoner

Nancy Stoner is a Senior Attorney at the Environmental Law and Policy Center, the Midwest’s leading environmental legal advocacy organization. Her work is focused on protecting freshwater resources in the Great Lakes and the Upper Mississippi Basin. From 2018 to 2025, Nancy served as the president of Potomac Riverkeeper Network, the only nonprofit combining assessment, advocacy, enforcement, and community engagement to protect the Potomac and Shenandoah River watersheds. Before she joined PRKN, Nancy worked to protect water and other environmental resources as an attorney, policymaker, grant maker, and advocate at the US Department of Justice, US Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Pisces Foundation. She was Acting Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water at U.S. EPA from 2011-2014. Nancy has a B.A. from University of Virginia and at J.D. from Yale Law School.
