After a fulfilling acting career, Denis Blaquière turned his attention to writing and directing in 1994. His first documentary, In the Company of Moose, produced for the acclaimed The Nature of Things series, earned him 3 Gemini nominations, proving that he had found his calling. Since then, he has written and directed several documentaries that focus on science, nature and the environment, most notably Insectia, about the fascinating world of insects. Insectia secured him both a Gemini and Gémeaux for Best Documentary Series and was broadcast in over 160 countries, including the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. Denis Blaquière also wrote and directed “Search For Life”, the last episode of the much-anticipated documentary series Mars Rising on Discovery, which was nominated for a Gemini Award.
