He is a graduate of The London Film School in England, from which he graduated in 2002 with the medium-length film A dead end story. His short film Tierra y Pan won more than 15 international awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, in 2008. He has had two other participations in the festival with the short films: Poem (2003) and The clean hands (2012). In 2005, he was awarded with the feature film Toro Negro, awarded at several festivals such as San Sebastián, Morelia and La Habana. In 2014 he made the film En la estancia, co-produced by Mexico, Argentina and the Netherlands; winner of awards and mentions at festivals in Mexico, San Diego, Milan and Argentina.
