Growing up in Vermont, Duane developed a passion for the environment at an early age. He spent every season of his youth making videos outdoors and as a teenager, travelled to rural South Sudan to produce a short documentary. After high school he interned at an innovative public television series in Cape Town, South Africa, truly developing his editing skills. Documentary film drew Duane to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he recently received a BA in Film and Digital Media. EVEN IN PARADISE, his senior thesis, was honored with the department’s highest award and is one of a series of his films that encourages new ways of seeing and understanding the environment. He lives in Santa Cruz with his partner Jennifer and their cat Ralph, working as a pedicab driver and video editor.
