Kelsey Bisson

Roles: Special Guest

Kelsey Bisson served as one of the Chief Scientists aboard R/V Sally Ride in December 2017 during the time the Aquatic Cathartic was filmed. She coordinated efforts to adapt the expedition’s goals after the Thomas Fire broke out in Southern California, sending ash into the study site. Her research explores the roles that tiny microorganisms play in regulating Earth’s climate through a combination of satellite observations and mathematical modeling. She prefers any day at sea to a day in the lab, and she earned her Ph.D. in Marine Science from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2018.
