Praveen Singh

Praveen Singh is an India based wildlife filmmaker and cameraman. Since completing a Masters in ‘Mass Communication’ from New Delhi in 1998, Praveen has been working in wildlife/conservation related television programming. He was a faculty member at the Wildlife Institute of India: the country’s premier wildlife research and training centre. In 2001 he left to pursue an MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University. Indian Leopards – The Killing Fields – his first independent documentary was a finalist in two categories at IWFF, Missoula, 2004. The film was awarded first prize in the documentary category, at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation College TV Awards, USA. The film aired on the Discovery Channel, US and NGC, US. The film was also awarded the ‘Best Film of the Festival Award’ at Vatavaran, 2005 (India’s Environment and Film Festival). His most recent films as Director and Principal Cinematographer include Tigress Blood for Discovery Channel, US (2014). Indian Leopards also won India’s National Award in India for Editing (Non Fiction). The film has also been nominated at the International Film Festival on Parks, Sondrio, Italy.

His other credits as Director and Cameraman include The Asiatic Lion – On a Roll Call  (winner – Best Documentary, Wildlife Conservation, Vatavran 2009; The Future Beneath Our Feet, UKEFF 2008; A film on Climate Change, The Final Tide, UKEFF, 2009 – Winner of Best Film, Climate Change category at Vatavaran, 2009. Apart from his wildlife documentaries he has twice won the Asian Pitch in Singapore for social documentaries. Praveen currently works for Kosmik Global Media Pvt. Ltd.
