Watch Online Wednesdays features “Amazing Grace,” winner of the 2014 Festival’s Eric Moe Sustainability Award. This documentary short follows Lloyd Maanyina, a man from Livingstone, Zambia. For many years, Lloyd made his living off charcoal burning, cutting down countless numbers of trees. Now, he feels called to “pay back” nature, so he leaves charcoal burning behind and starts planting trees. Lloyd’s passion for planting trees develops into making a micro-nursery, where he grows and sells trees to the community. Lloyd’s change from cutting trees to growing them offers hope to the rapidly decreasing forests in Zambia, and proves that one person has the power to make a difference and lead sustainable action.
