Julie Dash is an American filmmaker who is best known for her film, Daughters of the Dust (1991). Julie graduated from the UCLA film school with a degree in motion picture and television production, got her graduate degree from the American Film Institute. Julie’s films often hold deep global meanings that are framed in a narrative piece, allowing the audience to interpret a film how it best suits them. After she made her film, Daughters of the Dust, Julie ended up writing a novel as a sequel to the film.
