7:00pm, March 23rd

How do we produce films that make a difference? This session, illustrated with clips of inspiring films, explores the ways we can turn films into action, at both the policy and personal levels. Our panelists will address the challenges of producing films that have a tangible and measurable impact on their audiences and society. Featuring film clips and a panel discussion with LA-based filmmaker Samira Goetschel (Our Own Private Bin Laden, Clown de la Vie); DC-based filmmakers Lance Kramer & Brandon Kramer (City of Trees, Voices from Within), co-founders of Meridian Hill Pictures; and DC-based filmmaker Ellie Walton (Chocolate City, Fly by Light). Hosted and moderated by American University’s Chris Palmer, Director, Center for Environmental Filmmaking, School of Communication, American University.
